Very tough to acquire authentic 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait as tight-laced Senator Keeley in The Birdcage (1986), arguably his funniest comedy role, boldly signed in blue Sharpie marker in-person for a Hollywood, California-based autograph hound with whom we have long been associated. In good condition, with a sticker from the third-party authentication service J.S.A. affixed to the lower right-hand corner and its accompanying certificate. Late, great actor Gene Hackman was nominated for Academy Awards for Bonnie and Clyde (1968), I Never Sang for My Father (1971) and Mississippi Burning (1988), and won for The French Connection (1972) and Unforgiven (1992). He was also unforgettable in The Poseidon Adventure (1972), Scarecrow (1973), The Conversation (1974), Young Frankenstein (1975), Superman (1978) and its sequels, Postcards from the Edge (1990), The Firm (1993), The Quick and the Dead (1994), The Birdcage (1996), and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001).
