Scarce vintage ballpoint pen signature on a 3.5 x 5-inch pale yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person in 1948, less than two years before his untimely death at the age of 57. In good condition, with slight trimming to the bottom edge, nowhere near the writing, and ideal for matting.  Character actor Alan Hale, Sr. appeared in nearly 250 films, many of them classics, including Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1932), The Lost Patrol (1932), It Happened One Night (1932), Little Man, What Now? (1934), Of Human Bondage (1934), The Scarlet Letter (1934), Imitation of Life (1934), Great Expectations (1934), Babbitt (1934), Stella Dallas (1937), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), The Sea Hawk (1940), Destination Tokyo (1943), The Adventures of Mark Twain (1944), Night and Day (1948), and Adventures of Don Juan (1948).
