Extremely rare vintage 7.5 x 9.5-inch sepia-tone glossy portrait, signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in 1932, a year before her death at the age of 60. In good condition, with slightly trimmed borders. Playwright and novelist Louise Closser Hale had a second career as a character actress in films, playing silver-tongued, indomitable old bats in classics like Daddy Long Legs (1931), Shanghai Express (1932), The Man Who Played God (1932), Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1932), Resputin and the Empress (1932), The White Sister (1933), Dinner at Eight (1933), and the Marx Brothers' Duck Soup (1933).
