Cat. #001476220: PORTER HALL

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce vintage signature in bold pencil on a 4x6-inch pale orange autograph album page, acquired in-person by inveterate collector Rosanne Deerdorff Ochoa in 1935.  In good condition, with some crinkling to the left edge, and nice for matting.  Unforgettable character actor Porter Hall excelled at playing villains with explosive tempers and pompous, unpleasant personages.  His long list of classic film credits includes The Thin Man (1934), The Petrified Forest (1936), The Story of Louis Pasteur (1936), Satan Met a Lady (1936), Make Way for Tomorrow (1937), Scandal Street (1938), King of Alcatraz (1938), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), His Girl Friday (1940), Sullivan's Travels (1941), The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944), Double Indemnity (1944), Going My Way (1944), Murder, He Says (1945), and-- of course!-- Miracle on 34th Street (1947).
