Ultra-rare vintage in-person ink signature and inscription on a beige autograph album page, double matted and framed with a cast photo from The Maltese Falcon (1930) to an overall size of of 15 x 17 inches. About very fine condition, with some discoloration to the frame at the bottom left corner. The signature can be purchased without the frame, if so desired. Considered one of the finest writers of mystery and detective fiction of the twentieth century, Dashiell Hammett is best remembered for his novels The Maltese Falcon (1930) and The Thin Man (1934), which served as the bases for the classic films of the same name. He largely abandoned writing after 1934, devoting himself to left-wing activism.
