Extremely rare vintage blue fountain pen signature, adding "The Thin Man," on a roughly 2.75 x 4.75-inch leaf from a graphing notebook, acquired in-person in the 1930s and affixed to a 4x6-inch portion of a larger, more decorative scrapbook page, then later decorated with a small Xeorox image by some previous owner. In good condition. Considered one of the finest writers of mystery and detective fiction of the twentieth century, Dashiell Hammett is best remembered for his novels The Maltese Falcon (1930) and The Thin Man (1934), which served as the bases for the classic films of the same name. He largely abandoned writing after 1934, devoting himself to left-wing activism.
