Great English theater character actress Louise Hampton made nearly 40 forays into film, playing an assortment of nasty, gossiping, silver-tongued relatives, society types, townspeople, maids, and other old bags. Perhaps most memorable as the laundress who can't wait to get her hands on Scrooge's estate in A Christmas Carol (1951) with Alistair Sim, she was also noteworthy in Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939), The Middle Watch (1940), Haunted Honeymoon (1940), and The Saint Meets the Tiger (1943).
