An impossibly scarce 8x10-inch black and white bust portrait of the terrifying character actor whose disfigurement due to acromegaly was exploited by Universal Studios, signed and warmly inscribed: "To my friends / Check, Della May + Nan / Every good wish-- / Rondo Hatton / 1945." Not trimmed at the sides, as the accompanying image created by the consignor would suggest, but in good condition, with scattered handling dings. The horror icon was unforgettable as The Creeper in the Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce Sherlock Holmes classic The Pearl of Death (1945), Moloch the Brute in The Jungle Captive (1945), Mario the Monster Man in The Spider Woman Strikes Back (1946), and The Creeper in House of Horrors (1946) and The Brute Man (1946).
