Cat. #0015112022: EDITH HEAD

Rare and fantastic vintage original fashion design artwork for her airport-inspired clothing line, accomplished in pencil, felt-tip pen and pastel on an off-white 14.5 x 19.5-inch piece of artist's board. The sketch shows a stylish woman in a baggy dress holding a small piece of luggage. Marked at the top by Head in black felt-tip, "The 'Airport Collection,'" and prominently signed in the lower left. In fine condition and excellent for display. Originally sold by RR Auction, although there is no accompanying letter. Brilliant costume designer Edith Head holds the record for the most Oscars in that category, having snagged a whopping eight for The Heiress (1950); Samson and Delilah (1950); All About Eve (1950); A Place in the Sun (1951); Roman Holiday (1953), for which she received two; Sabrina (1955); and The Sting (1973). She was nominated for 27 more!
