HIGHLY rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait as evil Maria in Metropolis (1927), boldly signed in blue ballpoint pen in the 1980s. In good condition and the only example of this particular autographed image we have ever encountered. Best remembered for her portrayal of Maria, the Maschinenmensch, in Fritz Lang's dystopian classic Metropolis (1927), lovely German silent and early talkie film star Brigitte Helm made several other contributions to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, portraying Alraune ten Brinken in A Daughter of Destiny (1928) and Alraune (1930); Antinea in Georg Wilhelm Pabst's L'Atlantide (1932), Queen of Atlantis (1932) and The Lost Atlantis (1932); and Florence Wills in Gold (1934).
