Cat. #00152931: VALERIE HOBSON

Vintage 7.25 x 9.25 -inch glossy black and white chest-up studio portrait, boldly signed in blue fountain pen in the 1930s. In fine condition, with a trio of three barely visible handling bends, two of which touch a single letter of the signature without noticeably detracting from overall appearance. Sophisticated Irish-born stage and screen actress Valerie Hobson is remembered for films like Great Expectations (1946) and Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949). She made several key contributions to the horror and sci-fi genres, playing Mrs. Kendrick in the Frankenstein-inspired Onslow Stevens flick Life Returns (1935), Helena Landless in Mystery of Edwin Drood (1935), Elizabeth in James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and Lisa Glendon in Werewolf of London (1935).
