Beautiful early 8x10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen at the very onset of her career in the early 1930s, when she was in her late teens. In very good condition. Sophisticated Irish-born stage and screen actress Valerie Hobson is remembered for films like Great Expectations (1946) and Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949). She made several key contributions to the horror and sci-fi genres, playing Mrs. Kendrick in the Frankenstein-inspired Onslow Stevens flick Life Returns (1935), Helena Landless in Mystery of Edwin Drood (1935), Elizabeth in James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein (1935), and Lisa Glendon in Werewolf of London (1935).
