Highly rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in turquoise fountain pen in the 1950s. In good condition, with minor edgewear. Charming, sad-eyed singer and actress Judy Holliday recreated her role as Billie Dawn in the Broadway hit "Born Yesterday" (1946) in the 1950 film of the same name, earning her an Academy Award. A decade later, after regular appearances in films, she snagged a Tony for a knockout performance in the stage musical "Bells Are Ringing," in which she so memorably sang the tragic standard "The Party's Over." The latter almost seemed an omen of things to come: Not long thereafter, the star was dead from breast cancer, aged only 43 years.
