Uncommon 8x10-inch black and white portrait in his prime, boldly signed and inscribed in black felt-tip marker in the 1980s. In very good condition. Lanky, languorous character actor Sterling Holloway lent his distinctive voice to a number of Disney animated characters, including Mr. Stork in Dumbo (1941), a talking flower in Bambi (1942), the narrator in Mickey and the Beanstalk (1947), the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland (1951), Mr. Stork in Lambert the Sheepish Lion (1952), Winnie the Pooh, Kaa the serpent in The Jungle Book (1968), and Roquefort in The AristoCats (1970).  He was also memorable in Frank Capra's American Madness (1932) and Meet John Doe (1941); Tod Browning's Fast Workers (1933); Norman Z. McLeod's Alice in Wonderland (1933); Lewis Milestone's A Walk in the Sun (1945); Stanley Kramer's It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963); and a classic episode of T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" entitled "What's in the Box?" (1964).
