Uncommon vintage 7x9-inch black and white glossy portrait, boldly signed in blue felt-tip pen in the late 1970s or early 1980s. In good condition. Romanian-born stage and screen star John Houseman was nominated for an Academy Award for Julius Caesar (1953) and later won for The Paper Chase (1973). Elsewhere, he was memorable in sci-fi's Rollerball (1975), The Cheap Detective (1978), the horror flicks The Fog (1980) and Ghost Story (1981), and the miniseries Lincoln (1988). Houseman's main contribution to American culture, however, was not his own film performances, but his role as a mentor to Orson Welles and to a whole generation of actors as head of the drama division of The Juilliard School.
