Gorgeous Ziegfeld and Goldwyn Girl Jean Howard entered films in 1930, dazzling to see in films like Whoopee! (1930), The Prizefighter and the Lady (1933), Break of Hearts (1935), Claudia (1943), and Bermuda Mystery (1944) before abandoning acting at the age of 34. She went on to a career as a photographer, capturing iconic glimpses of Hollywood in its Golden Age of the 1940s and 1950s. She snapped parties, gatherings, sports tournaments, and other events, taking marvelous images of Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney, Richard Burton, Cole Porter, Judy Garland, Grace Kelly, Hedy Lamarr, Jennifer Jones, Laurence Olivier, and Vivien Leigh, among others. A book of her charming photographs was published in 1989.
