Highly rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed black fountain pen in the 1950s. In good condition for its age, with a few gentle surface crinkles, essentially invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Good-looking leading man Jeffrey Hunter, who died so tragically of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 42, is best remembered as the sidekick of John Wayne in The Searchers (1956), Jesus Christ in King of Kings (1961) and Captain Christopher Pike in the original pilot episode of "Star Trek" (1965), a role he would reprise in the classic "Menagerie" episode of the actual series in 1966.
