Rare vintage fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pale yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person by inveterate collector Rae Sargent at Wrigley Field in the 1930s and decorated with a magazine image. In good condition, with a few minor surface crinkles. Lloyd Hughes, boyishly handsome, deeply sensitive leading man of the silent and early talkie screens, starred in Love Never Dies (1921) with Madge Bellamy; Hail, the Woman (1921) with Florence Vidor; Tess of the Storm Country (1922) with Mary Pickford; the comedy favorite Ella Cinders (1926) with Colleen Moore; and Moby Dick (1930) with John Barrymore. He is remembered by horror, sci-fi and fantasy buffs for his portrayal of Ed Malone in The Lost World (1925), the first film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's beloved novel, and for his work in The Haunted Bedroom (1919); The Mysterious Island (1929); The Drums of Jeopardy (1931); and the cult serial Blake of Scotland Yard (1937), as the death ray-wielding villain, Scorpio.
