Cat. #001572: EMIL JANNINGS

Unusually large-- almost all portraits he signed were postcard-sized-- 5x7-inch double-weight glossy portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in English in black fountain pen around 1927. In good condition, with scattered very mild handling dings, invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Eminent German actor Emil Jannings, who nabbed the first Academy Award for Best Actor in 1929, made notable contributions to the silent horror and science-fiction genres, appearing in Eyes of the Mummy Ma (1918), Algol-- Tragödie der Macht (1920), Waxworks (1924), and Faust (1926).
