Cat. #001572: EMIL JANNINGS

Unusually large-- almost all portraits he signed were postcard-sized-- 5x7-inch double-weight glossy portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the 1930s. In good condition, with scattered very mild handling dings, invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Eminent German actor Emil Jannings, who nabbed the first Academy Award for Best Actor in 1929, made notable contributions to the silent horror and science-fiction genres, appearing in Eyes of the Mummy Ma (1918), Algol-- Tragödie der Macht (1920), Waxworks (1924), and Faust (1926).
