Cat. #0015854223: JOHN KELLY

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Exceedingly rare original signed 1939 contract with Samuel Goldwyn, Inc. for his role as Mac in Music School, issued three years later as Moontide. The document is folded, measuring about 16 x 20 inches when laid out. In good condition, with a few minor tears and creases, not affecting the autographed area. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autographed piece is not included. Gruff, tough-talking character actor John Kelly racked up 165 silent and early talkie film credits by the time of his death at the age of 46, typically cast as plug-ugly henchmen and gangsters, no-nonsense bodyguards, assorted blue collar types, or dopey-looking boxers. Highlights include Dressed to Kill (1928), The All American (1932), Kid Millions (1934), Little Miss Marker (1934), Dr. Socrates (1935), After the Thin Man (1936), Easy Money (1936), The Walking Dead (1936), Poor Little Rich Girl (1936), Bringing Up Baby (1938), Kid Nightingale (1939), Road to Singapore (1940), Black Friday (1940), Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), Girl Trouble (1942), Larceny, Inc.
