Adorable 1947 8x10-inch black and white portrait, shown fishing in the woods at age 23, naughtily signed and inscribed in green fountain pen in the period of the image: "Frank - Haven't had a bite in ages, you must hurry up and show me how. / Dottie Lamour." In fine condition for its age, with scattered mild handling dings, mostly visible in the borders when photo is viewed head-on. After bit parts in forgettable films of the early 1930s, beauty contest winner and big band vocalist Dorothy Lamour landed her first major film role in 1936, donning her soon-to-be-famous floral sarong to play Ulah in The Jungle Princess. She went on to almost uniformly play female Tarzan-Crusoe-Gauguin-type roles through the Second World War and beyond, most famously in the beloved Bob Hope and Bing Crosby "Road" pictures. Elsewhere, she was memorable in Johnny Apollo (1940), A Medal for Benny (1945) and The Greatest Show on Earth (1952). Lamour made one horror film, Creepshow 2, in 1987.
