Cat. #001599112: BURT LANCASTER

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce vintage blue ballpoint pen signature on a 4x6-inch lined notebook leaf, acquired in-person by a busy New York City-based autograph hound in 1957, the year he was onscreen in Sweet Smell of Success. In good condition, with a few minor surface creases and gentle soiling in one or two spots. Great tough guy star Burt Lancaster snagged an Oscar for Elmer Gantry (1960), and was nominated three more times, for From Here to Eternity (1953), Birdman of Alcatraz (1962) and Atlantic City (1980). Other highlights of his superb career include The Killers (1946), Brute Force (1947), I Walk Alone (1948), All My Sons (1948), Sorry, Wrong Number (1948), Criss Cross (1949), Rope of Sand (1949), The Flame and the Arrow (1950), Jim Thorpe-- All American (1950), Come Back, Little Sheba (1952), Vera Cruz (1954), The Rose Tattoo (1955), The Rainmaker (1956), Sweet Smell of Success (1957), Separate Tables (1958), The Young Savages (1961), Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), and The Leopard (1963).
