Cat. #00161112: CHARLES LA TORRE

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare vintage black felt-tip marker signature on a 4x6-inch light green card, acquired in-person by indefatigable autograph hound John Virzi in 1973 and decorated with a small book image. In good condition, with a few minor surface scuffs. Small, frenetic, weasel-like character actor Charles La Torre played corrupt men of power and rascally blue collar types, speaking in a variety of Romance language accents at spitfire speed. Best known, perhaps, for his role as Italian military officer Tonelli in Casablanca (1942), he was also noteworthy in My Sister Eileen (1942), Dr. Renault's Secret (1942), Mission to Moscow (1943), The Song of Bernadette (1943), Passage to Marseille (1944), The Hairy Ape (1944), Kismet (1944), A Thousand and One Nights (1945), A Bell for Adano (1945), A Double Life (1947), and Three Coins in the Fountain (1954). Also a prolific television actor, he popped up on "Batman" in 1966.
