Scarce and quite early 7.25 x 9-inch black and white Paramount publicity portrait by Edwin Bower Hesser, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen around 1929. In good condition for its age, with a few minor surface chips. Lovely, if tough-talking silent and early talkie star Lila Lee was memorable in a number of notable horror, crime and mystery flicks, including Terror Island (1920), The Ghost Breakers (1922), The Midnight Girl (1925) with Bela Lugosi, The Black Pearl (1928), The Gorilla (1930), The Unholy Three (1930) with Lon Chaney, Officer Thirteen (1932), The Intruder (1933), and The People's Enemy (1935). She was also noteworthy in Blood and Sand (1922) with Rudolph Valentino.
