Cat. #001641612: HARVEY LEMBECK

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly uncommon original 3.5 x 5.25-inch black and white candid snapshot, shown standing outside of a theater showing "Man of La Mancha", in which he played Sancho Panza, on its first national tour in 1966, boldly signed in blue ink in-person for inveterate collector Frances Zane. In good condition. Pudgy Brooklyn-born comic character actor Harvey Lembeck is best known for his portrayal of Corporal Rocco Barbella on TV's "The Phil Silvers Show" (1955-1959) and as the laughable biker villain Erich Von Zipper in the "Beach Party" films of the 1960s. His memorable film credits include Back at the Front (1952), Stalag 17 (1953), A View from the Bridge (1961), Love with the Proper Stranger (1963), The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964), How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965), Beach Blanket Bingo (1965), and Raid on Entebbe (1977). Between film and theater gigs, he honed his skills as a stand-up comedian with a knack for raucous improvisation, and his television work was extensive.
