Character actor Sheldon Leonard played tough-talking gangsters, hoods, military men, and assorted blue collar workers in classic films of the 1930s through 1960s, most notably Another Thin Man (1939); Passport to Suez (1943); To Have and Have Not (1944); The Falcon in Hollywood (1944); the horror-themed comedies Zombies on Broadway (1945) with Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, and Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951); Captain Kidd (1945); It's a Wonderful Life (1946) in the very memorable role of Nick the bartender; Sinbad, the Sailor (1947); If You Knew Susie (1948); Guys and Dolls (1955); and Pocketful of Miracles (1961). His extensive work on television included episodes of "I Love Lucy" (1951), "Make Room for Daddy" (1956-1963) and "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1963).
