Prolific English character actress Doris Lloyd, who played scores of domestics and dowagers, was a regular contributor to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy film genres, with supporting roles in Tarzan the Ape Man (1932), The Wolf Man (1941), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941), Night Monster (1942), The Invisible Man's Revenge (1942), The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943), Lodger (1944), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947), The Son of Dr. Jekyll (1951), Alice in Wonderland (1951), The Time Machine (1960), and Mary Poppins (1964). She was also memorable as troubled clients in the Sherlock Holmes flicks A Study in Scarlet (1933) and The House of Fear (1945), and as Baroness Ebberfeld in The Sound of Music (1964).
