Cat. #001644112: GINA LOLLOBRIGIDA

Lovely 8x10-inch color portrait from 1956's The Hunchback of Notre Dame, boldly signed in blue felt-tip pen in-person at a public appearance in her later years. In good condition. Known as "La Lollo," the late Gina Lollobrigida was the first sex symbol to emerge from post-World War Two Europe at a time when Italians were tossing over Neorealism in favor of unadulterated Hollywood glamour. The gorgeous artist's model, who was typically cast as smoldering seductresses, was memorable in Fanfan theTulip (1952) Beauties of the Night (1952), Beat the Devil (1953) with Humphrey Bogart, Carol Reed's Trapeze (1956), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1956), Solomon and Sheba (1959), Come September (1961), and Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (1968) before Sophia Loren swept into town and stole her thunder. Since 1999, Lollobrigida has been active in Italian politics.
