Cat. #001662332: MILES MANDER

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Exceedingly rare vintage heavy pencil signature inside a 5x7-inch booklet he composed on the subject of art history, dating to the 1930s. In good condition, with the autograph itself excellent for matting with a favorite photograph. Just the third example of his autograph we have ever encountered. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the signature is not included. Versatile English character actor Miles Mander, who excelled at playing oily, usually aristocratic villains, was unforgettable in classic films like The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933), Don Quixote (1933), The Three Musketeers (1935), Suez (1938), The Little Princess (1939), Wuthering Heights (1939), The Man in the Iron Mask (1939), Tower of London (1939), The House of the Seven Gables (1940), Road to Singapore (1940), That Hamilton Woman (1941), To Be or Not to Be (1942), This Above All (1942), Mrs. Miniver (1942), Phantom of the Opera (1943), Madame Curie (1943), The Return of the Vampire (1943), Four Jills and a Jeep (1944), The Story of Dr. Wassell (1944), The White Cliffs of Dover (1944), Sherlock Holmes and the Scarlet Claw (1944), Sherlock Holmes and the Pearl of Death (1944), Murder, My Sweet (1944), The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945), and The Brighton Strangler (1945).
