Cat. #0016642: FREDRIC MARCH

Uncommon vintage 7.5 x 9.5-inch matte-finish costume portrait, boldly signed and inscribed-- with his full name, making this a desirable example-- in blue fountain pen in the late 1940s. In fine condition for its age, with just a hint of smudging to the dedication, and trimmed down from 8x10 inches for framing purposes. Handsome leading man Fredric March is beloved of horror, sci-fi and fantasy buffs for his Oscar-nominated double role in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931). He further contributed to the genre with his roles as the weary Grim Reaper in Death Takes a Holiday (1934) and the bewildered husband of sorceress Veronica Lake in the horror-themed comedy I Married a Witch (1943).
