Cat. #0016731612: CHARLES MCGRAW

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

From a massive horde of signatures, all acquired in-person over three decades by an indefatigable autograph hound, comes this extremely rare vintage inscribed blue fountain pen signature on a 3x5-inch off-white card, decorated with a small magazine image, acquired in the late 1950s. In fine condition, with a minor crease to the upper left-hand corner tip. Gravel-voiced, granite-faced Charles McGraw made his film debut in The Undying Monster in 1942. At first it seemed as though McGraw would spend his movie career languishing in B-movies and villain roles, most notably The Mad Ghoul (1943) and Strange Confession (1944), but while working at RKO in the late 1940s, he managed to reinvent himself as a leading man. Two decades later, he was back to character work, memorable in Spartacus (1960) and The Birds (1963).
