Cat. #0016731722: MAGGIE MCNAMARA

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare vintage inscribed signature in black fountain pen on a roughly 3x5-inch grey album page, acquired in-person in the 1950s. In good condition, with a notation pasted to the bottom edge by the original collector and an autograph of actress Ruth Gordon on the opposite side. Beautiful Maggie McNamara was lured from the stage and a modeling career by Otto Preminger, who cast her in The Moon Is Blue in 1953.  She was nominated for an Oscar for her knockout performance in that highly controversial film and went on to appear in Three Coins in the Fountain (1954), Prince of Players (1955), The Cardinal (1963), and a classic episode of T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" entitled "Ring-a-Ding Girl" (1963). In 1978, she committed suicide by overdose, aged only 48, and her autograph is elusive in any format.  This is just the fourth example we've ever encountered.
