Cat. #0016731734: GIBB MCLAUGHLIN

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare vintage 3.25 x 5.5-inch black and white English postcard portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the early 1930s. In good condition for its age. Gaunt, skeletal, prune-faced English silent and early talkie character actor Gibb McLaughlin was a master of disguise, excelling in any ethnic part of Dickensian role, as in Oliver Twist (1948). He was the quintessential sneering villain, dour undertaker or canny detective, starring as sleuth J.G. Reeder in Edgar Wallace's Mystery of Room 13 (1938).
