Highly rare vintage fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pale green autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s. In very good condition and ideal for matting. Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included with the signed piece. Great hatchet-faced character actress Doro Merande excelled at playing doting aunts, town gossips, curt secretaries, and small-minded townspeople, often eccentric and much older than her actual age, and always hilariously delivering lines with her trademark warble. Highlights of her long career include Our Town (1940), The Snake Pit (1948), Mr. Belvedere Rings the Bell (1951), The Whistle at Eaton Falls (1951), The Seven Year Itch (1955), The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), The Gazebo (1959), Kiss Me, Stupid (1964), The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming (1966), Change of Habit (1969), and The Front Page (1974). Also busy on television, she is remembered for the role of Sadie in a classic 1963 episode of "The Twilight Zone" entitled "The Bard".
