Cat. #0016922112: GERTRUDE MICHAEL

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rather uncommon vintage pencil signature on a 4x6-inch pale yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1930s.  In good condition for its age, with some crinkling to the upper right-hand corner, away from the writing, and suitable for matting with a favorite photograph.  Before her mysterious death of undisclosed causes at the age of 53, charming, emotionally intense Gertrude Michael was memorable in films like Night of Terror (1933), Ann Vickers (1933), I'm No Angel (1933), Bolero (1934), Murder at the Vanities (1934), Cleopatra (1934), Father Brown, Detective (1934), Till We Meet Again (1936), Women in Bondage (1943), and, later in life, the cult favorite Caged (1950), as the southern belle inmate who loses her marbles, punches her fists through the glass window, and hangs herself.
