Cat. #00173122171: CAMERON MITCHELL

Scarce vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch light green autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1950s. Some minor crinkling; otherwise, in good condition for its age. Athlete and military man Cameron Mitchell entered acting in 1945, first gaining fame in the role of Happy in the original Broadway production of "Death of a Salesman" in 1949, which he recreated in the 1951 film version. Throughout the 1950s, he alternated between playing good-hearted persons, as in How to Marry a Millionaire (1952) and The Robe (1953), and less savory types, as in Carousel (1956) and Monkey on My Back (1957). From 1964 onward, he found new work starring in dozens of B-horror flicks, including Blood and Black Lace (1964), Island of the Doomed (1967), Nightmare in Wax (1969), The Swarm (1978), The Toolbox Murders (1978), and Screamers (1979).
