Cat. #001901: ALAN NAPIER

Rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in purple felt-tip pen, probably in the 1980s. In fine condition, with the actor switching pens and tracing over the first six letters of the inscription, and an extremely faint bit of residue in the background, next to his right ear. Best known for his portrayal of Alfred the butler on T.V.'s "Batman" (1966-1968), veteran character actor Alan Napier made a considerable number of contributions to the horror and sci-fi genres, with supporting roles in The Invisible Man Returns (1940), Cat People (1942), The Uninvited (1944), Ministry of Fear (1944), Hangover Square (1945), Isle of the Dead (1945), House of Horrors (1946), Master Minds (1949), The Strange Door (1951) with Boris Karloff, The Mole People (1956), Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959), The Premature Burial (1962), and the "Passage on the Lady Anne" episode of "The Twilight Zone" (1963).
