Rare blue fountain pen signature-- rendered with her foot!-- on the verso of a 3.5 x 5.25-inch black and white pitch card, given in-person to a side show or circus patron, circa 1942. In fairly good condition for its age, with two flecks of soiling on the blank side of the card, above the autograph, and a diagonal crease to the upper right-hand corner of the front, slightly breaking the photograph's surface. Dubbed the Living Venus de Milo, armless sideshow performer Frances O'Connor ate, drank and smoked with her toes, some of which was captured on film by Tod Browning in his famed horror flick Freaks (1932). It was her only movie role. Her autograph is extremely uncommon in any format.
