Highly rare vintage inscribed green fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pale green album page, acquired in-person around 1929 or 1930. In good condition. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autograph is not included. Stalwart Irish-American character actor Robert Emmett O'Connor played cops, detectives, doormen, waiters, farmers, salesmen, judges, drunks, and townspeople in hundreds of films between the silent era and 1950s. Aside from Laurel and Hardy, and Harold Lloyd comedies, he is probably best known for his portrayals of warmhearted bootlegger Paddy Ryan in The Public Enemy (1931); Detective Sergeant Henderson, who hilariously pursued the Marx Brothers in A Night at the Opera (1935); and Jonesy, the Paramount Studios gate guard who greets Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard (1950).
