Cat. #00196513: CHARLES OGLE

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Ultra-rare and irreplaceable 5 x 8.5-inch sepia-tone image taken from a magazine or playbill, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen for noted collector Mabel White in the late 1910s. In fine condition, with gentle folds and remnants of a black scrapbook page affixed to the verso. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autographed piece is not included. Silent movie character actor Charles Ogle has achieved legendary status among fans of the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, as the first performer to portray Frankenstein's monster on screen, in 1910's Frankenstein. The 16-m.m. short is considered by some to be represent the birth of the horror film genre. This is just the third example of his autograph we have encountered in over 30 years.
