Cat. #00196513: CHARLES OGLE

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Ultra-rare and irreplaceable 3.5 x 5.25-inch sepia-town Edison Stock Company publicity postcard portrait, amended by the actor to reflect a recent transition to Lasky Studios, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen around 1910-1915. In good condition, overall, with remnants from black photo mounts at each corner and some gentle toning in spots. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autographed piece is not included. Silent movie character actor Charles Ogle has achieved legendary status among fans of the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, as the first performer to portray Frankenstein's monster on screen, in 1910's Frankenstein. The 16-m.m. short is considered by some to be represent the birth of the horror film genre. This is just the third example of his autograph we have encountered in over 30 years.
