Cat. #00196523: CLIFFORD ODETS

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare vintage signature in blue fountain pen on a 4.4 x 6-inch beige album page, acquired in-person in 1941. In fine condition, with a mild diagonal handling bend to the left side, not affecting the writing, and a stray light ink mark near the bottom right, also nowhere near the autograph.  Wonderful playwright and screenwriter Clifford Odets is best remembered for politically-engaged Depression-era works like Waiting for Lefty, Awake and Sing and Golden Boy. His Hollywood scripts included The General Died at Dawn (1936), Humoresque (1946), and, most notably, Sweet Smell of Success (1957).
