Cat. #00198622: EUGENE PALLETTE

Extremely rare vintage 5.5 x 7.75-inch sepia-tone portrait as Doc Brady in the pre-Code cowboy classic Santa Fe Trail (1930), boldly signed in blue fountain pen around the time of the film. In fine condition for its age, with minute bends to all four corner tips and possible trimming from a larger image for framing purposes. The earliest example of an already scarce autograph we have ever encountered! Rotund, cranky character actor Eugene Pallette appeared in nearly 250 silent and early talkie films, most notably D.W. Griffith's Intolerance (1916), The Ten Commandments (1923), The Canary Murder Case (1929), Huckleberry Finn (1931), The Dragon Murder Case (1934), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1940), Young Tom Edison (1940), The Mark of Zorro (1940), The Lady Eve (1941), and Heaven Can Wait (1943).
