Cat. #00199122: PAUL PANZER

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare 4.75 x 6-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1915, while appearing on stage there. In good condition. Extraordinarily prolific Bavarian-born silent and early talkie character actor Paul Panzer was the quintessential mustached, well-dressed, black-clad bad guy, perhaps most famously in the Perils of Pauline (1914) cliffhanger. His nearly 400 other movie credits-- far too many to catalog here!-- include the horror classics Frankenstein (1931), The Vampire Bat (1932), The Black Cat (1934), The Walking Dead (1936), and The Return of Dr. X (1939); The Man Who Played God (1932); The Kid from Spain (1932); The Cat's-Paw (1934); The Mighty Barnum (1934); Come and Get It (1936); Charlie Chan at the Olympics (1937); Kid Galahad (1937); Mystery House (1938); The Valley of the Giants (1938); Each Dawn I Die (1939); Angels Wash Their Faces (1939); Meet John Doe (1941); Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942); Casablanca (1942); Shine on Harvest Moon (1944); Mildred Pierce (1945); Cloak and Dagger (1946); Humoresque (1946); Cry Wolf (1947); Dark Passage (1947); My Wild Irish Rose (1947); April Showers (1948); A Foreign Affair (1948); and Embraceable You (1948).
