Cat. #00203: OSCAR POLK

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Ultra-, ultra-rare vintage inscribed fountain pen signature on a 4.25 x 6-inch pale green album page, acquired in-person in New York City, following a play appearance, in the late 1930s.  In good condition, with a gentle vertical bend along the right edge, well away from the writing.  Note that the image of the star accompanying the autograph scan here is not actually included with the signed piece.  Black character actor Oscar Polk's autograph is one of the rarest associated with Gone with the Wind (1939), in which he so memorably played Pork the house servant, this being just the third example we know to have surfaced in the last three decades.  He was elsewhere memorable in The Green Pastures (1936) and Cabin in the Sky (1943), as well as the original Broadway production of You Can't Take It With You (1936).  We urge you not to miss this one-- we will not find another anytime soon.
