Oscar-winning Polish-born director Roman Polanski is remembered for important films like Repulsion (1965), horror's Rosemary's Baby (1969), Chinatown (1974), and The Pianist (2002), as well as for his stormy personal life.  In 1969, his breathtakingly beautiful wife, actress Sharon Tate, was brutally murdered and mutilated by members of the Mason family.
