Terrific vintage 5x7-inch sepia-tone portrait, boldly signed in indigo fountain pen in the late 1920s or early 1930s.  In very good condition for its age, with scattered handling dings.  The veteran character actor of the 1930s through 1950s is remembered by horror buffs for his portrayal of Sylvester McKee, the ventriloquist who colludes with Michael Redgrave's animated, murderous dummy in the horror classic Dead of Night (1945).  An important and rarely-encountered autograph!
