Cat. #002061331: VINCENT PRICE

Just great original 10x8-inch black and white publicity still for House of Wax (1953), shown moments before garroting an unsuspecting victim, signed with his name alone in black felt-tip pen in the 1980s. In reasonably good condition, overall, with a few surface cracks and creases, chiefly invisible when the photo is viewed head-on, and some gentle brushing to the writing. Sinister-looking Vincent Price is a veritable icon of the horror and science-fiction genres, also memorable as George, the Duke of Clarence in Tower of London (1939), Geoffrey Radcliffe in The Invisible Man Returns (1940), the Invisible Man in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948), Professor Henry Jarrod in House of Wax (1953), Gallico the Great in The Mad Magician (1954), the devil in The Story of Mankind (1957), Francoise Delambre in The Fly (1958), Frederick Loren in House on Haunted Hill (1959), Francoise Delambre in Return of the Fly (1959), Dr. Chapin in The Tingler (1959), Dr. Wells in The Bat (1959), Roderick Usher in House of Usher (1960), Captain Robur in Master of the World (1961), Nicholas Medina in Pit and the Pendulum (1961), Locke in Tales of Terror (1961), Richard Gloucester in Tower of London (1961), Dr. Craven in The Raven (1963), Magistrate Cordier in Diary of a Madman (1963), Charles Dexter Ward and Joseph Curwen in The Haunted Palace (1963), Alex Melbourne and Dr. Rappaccini in Twice-Told Tales (1963), Waldo Trumbull The Comedy of Terrors (1963), Dr. Morgan in The Last Man on Earth (1964), Prince Prospero in The Masque of the Red Death (1964), Verden Fell in The Tomb of Ligeia (1964), Captain Hugh in City in the Sea (1965), the titular mad scientist in the Dr. Goldfoot film series (1965-1966), the narrator of Spirits of the Dead (1968), Sir Markham in The Oblong Box (1969), Dr. Browning in Scream and Scream Again (1970), Lord Whitman in Cry of the Banshee (1970), Dr. Phibes in The Abominable Dr. Phibes (1971) and Dr. Phibes Rises Again (1972), Edward Lionheart in Theatre of Blood (1973), Paul Toombes in Mad House (1974), Dervos in Journey Into Fear (1973), Eramus in The Monster Club (1980), Lionel Grisbane in The House of the Long Shadows (1983), an unnamed sinister man in Bloodbath at the House of Death (1984), and the inventor in Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands (1990).
