Original vintage 8x10-inch 1946 black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed in later years in black felt-tip pen. In good condition, with some mild border creasing, not substantially detracting from the overall appearance of the item. Scrumptious brunette Ella Raines was struggling to establish herself on the Broadway stage when she was discovered by Howard Hawks, who hand-selected her to play Randolph Scott's lady friend in the war film Corvette K-225 (1943). She went on to star in the John Wayne western Tall in the Saddle (1944), the noir flick Phantom Lady (1944), Hail the Conquering Hero (1944), The Web (1947) with Vincent Price, Brute Force (1947), and Impact (1949), before retiring in 1957 to raise a family. Her autograph is somewhat uncommon in any format.
