Scarce typed letter on 6x6-inch stationery to Irving Sindler of Samuel Goldwyn Studios, boldly signed in heavy pencil in 1944. In good condition, with a horizontal mailing fold, a tiny nick to the right edge and some light surface creases. Director and producer Gregory Ratoff was also a noted character actor, unforgettable, with his heavy accent and hefty build, as various eccentrics, harried hotheads, and villainous foreigners. Among his best-loved credits are I'm No Angel (1933), Sally, Irene and Mary (1938), Intermezzo: A Love Story (1939), The Great Profile (1940), and All About Eve (1950). He died from leukemia at the age of 63, just after filming Exodus (1960).
