Exceedingly rare authentic vintage inscribed violet fountain pen signature on a 3.75 x 4-inch portion of a pale grey album page, acquired in-person by an autograph hound named Helen on June 2, 1959, according to her ink notation along the bottom edge-- just two weeks before the star's tragic demise on June 16, 1959. Handsome, authoritative George Reeves made his screen debut in the opening scene of Gone with the Wind (1939) and went on to gain immortality as the titular Man of Steel on T.V.'s "Superman" (1952-1958). At age 45, he was fatally shot under mysterious circumstances-- possibly suicide, possibly murder-- and his autograph, which is highly sought by collectors, is extremely difficult to find in genuine form. Forgeries, unfortunately, abound-- but this one is the real deal.
