Extremely rare and uncommonly early 5x7-inch black and white baseball uniform portrait of the Black ballplayer who broke the color line when the Brooklyn Dodgers started him at first base in 1947, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen: "Best wishes, Bob-- Jackie Robinson". In near very fine condition, with a minute area of paper loss to the top right-hand corner tip; a few mild handling bends, including one in the bottom left-hand corner, very slightly intruding into the image; and a diagonal surface impression running from the top left to the top of Robinson's cheek, barely visible when the photo is viewed head-on.
