Highly scarce vintage pencil signature on a 3.5 x 6-inch lined notebook page, acquired in-person in the 1940s. In good condition for its age, with a few negligible surface dings and a gentle ink stain to the bottom left-hand edge, well away from the writing. Decorated World War II veteran and Boxing Hall of Famer Barney Ross occupies the rarified place as one of the sport's few triple division champions-- lightweight, light welterweight and welterweight-- and was the first to simultaneously hold the lightweight and welterweight titles. His private struggles with morphine addiction were the subject of the 1957 film Monkey on My Back. This is the fourth example of his autograph we have ever seen, and the first we have ever offered.
